"The path ahead of you is arduous, but you must endure it. Endure it". These lines were the backbone of the movie Queen Seon Deok. The long running series in the television proved to be the best from the time it was released and reached different countries. This is a Korean Drama released in 2009 that would compel us to study, listen, fight, cry, and give suggestions to the protagonist. And who is the real foe? It was really the fate of Seon Deok and what was written in the stars. But someone stole various scenes-Ladies Mishil. Lady Mishil is the path that led Seon Deok to the throne.



Is it not that she killed the rulers that she served in order to become Queen? Is it not that she had married huge political figures just to gain her people? Lady Mishil gathered the most talented people around Shilla under her wings. Her incomparable talent to see through one's feelings and emotions brought her to ignite Seon Deok's young heart to know her real identity. And then the arduous path trailed its way to survival. Seon Deok met Kim Yushin and they both turned Shilla upside down. However, they both experienced myriad uncompromising circumstances that led to the demise of some important people including the twin princess herself who was the mother of the next rightful heir-Lord Chunchu. Yes, Seon Deok was a twin who was forced by fate to leave the palace after her birth just to escape from Lady Mishil. Her teenage life in the desert was useful when she went her way to the throne. Her trading skills helped her a lot. Hence, her stay far away from the palace provided her benefits.



What made Queen Seon Deok's path so arduous? First, when Kim Yushin married another girl while she was yet a princess, her heart bleeds. There was no way for her to keep their path in unison. And second, Queen Seon Deok has to endure seeing her beloved Bidam who died ten paces away from her. And who is Bidam? We came to know about Bidam when the people of Lady Mishil tried their best to kill the princess. Bidam once saved the princess's life and later on helped her way to the throne. When she became Queen, their feelings for each other were revealed. Yes, Queen Seon Deok's intention to give up the throne and live with Bidam for the rest of her days is sincere. But, her enemies turned her last dream a misery. Bidam died because he committed treason against the country, which was of course due to a devise concocted by her followers for their own benefit. Bidam who is Lady Mishil's son, is indeed a double-bladed weapon that erased Queen Seon Deok's last dream. If there could be heaven above the earth, they could meet there, which is why Queen Seon Deok asked to view the heavens, the land, and what is between, before the story ended. Indeed, the path ahead of the great Queen Seon Deok is arduous, but she was able to endure it to the end.
