Deok Man walking dejectedly feeling down recalled everybody she had asked doesn’t know Moon Noh’s whereabouts & she is wasting her time chasing a phantom. Then a voice comes that

Joo Bang: Lord Moon Noh is not the person of great access that anyone can seek audience with

Deok Man over hears then finds the monk where there was a person (Go Do) kneeling before the monk also seeking to look for Moon Noh after crossing terrain of 10,000 miles. Joo Bang Monk insists that Moon Noh is not an easy person to seek audience with. But it seems they look like con artist Jook Bang & Go Do as they look at the directions of Deok Man who looks eager as she approaches the Joo Bang the monk & asked for Moon Noh whereabouts

Deok Man: Master (Go Seon Nim)! Do you know who Moon Noh is? Can you make us meet?!

Deok Man earnestly trying to get an answer to Moon Noh’s whereabouts. The monk asked Deok Man how she can say Gukseon is such vain. Deok man apologise but she earnestly seek the help of Joo Bang to find Moon Noh’s whereabouts. Then she tells that she has travel twice the distance of 20,000 from west of the desert of Sui (China was under the Sui Dynasty at that time) to the ocean to come & meet with Moon Noh. Joo Bang finds that Deok Man is an easy con. Joo Bang made some comments that now Deok Man had put him in a dilemma that he needs to leave this place at once before he is subjected to more dire quandaries. Joo Bang pretend to made a haste exit but slips as he gets up. Go Do comes to his aide & tells that Joo Bang had been fasting while Joo Bang goes on his chanting Buddhist chants. Go Do tells how reverence Joo Bang in his fasting vows

Buddhist Chant Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy). Namo Kuan Shi Yin Pusa (Bodhisattva) in the Sanskrit chant the translation is “I hail to the Bodhisattva who listen (with mercy) the voice of the world” Korean is Gwan Se Eum Bo Sal

Deok Man was convince. Then she said to wait for a moment as she prepares something for the monk to break his fast. It looks like he is eating pork trotters. Deok Man beg for Gukseon whereabouts. Joo Bang said that he had accepted I might have accepted these sumptuous offering, but the Gukseon’s whereabout is not a place to barter…Go Do tries to get a hand at the trotter but was slap at the wrist by Joo Bang. Joo Nang asked that Deok Man wanted to convey to him about her mother’s demise & passing. Deok Man said that it will take up much of his time. Go Do is surprise that to see a group of Hwa Rang Youth troops in the midst. Goo Do tries to signal to Joo Bang but Jo bang brushes him off as being a nuisance. Joo Bang asked how he is going to bring her there when this boy also want the same. Go Do said that Deok Man’s case look more urgent & dire than his, he will pass this chance to Deok Man, he only done 10,000 while Deok Man did 20,000. Go Dong ran off. Deok Man thanks Go Do for forfeiting his chance. Joo Bang notices the Hwa Rang Youth then asked Deok Man to get his some water.

Deok Man goes & obey Joo bang’s order while Joo Bang makes a run for it. Deok Man comes back with the water to find Joo Bang missing. Joo Bang while fleeing meets with the Hwa Rang youth who apprehended as accuses him of being the perpetrator. Joo Bang asked them to take their hand of him. Deok Man while searching for Joo Bang heard the commotion & went to his aide. While talking to the Hwa Rang for being rude to Joo bang slips the stolen good onto Deok Man. Hwa Rang youth asked Deok Man to buzz off & not be a busy body. Kim Yu Shin comes as the Hwa Rang youth claims that they had caught the perpetrator. Kim Yu Shin asked whether this person is had indeed stolen “Yoo Bae” that his father has give him. The Hwa rang youth claims that Joo Bang indeed stolen Kim Yu Shin’s ornament as they witness him doing that at the silk store as Joo Bang acts innocently chanting away

Yoo Bae is the a belt ornament that hangs on the belt

Kim Yu Shin (595 – 673), was a general in seventh century Silla considered to be one of the greatest generals and masters of the Korean sword in Korean history. Throughout his life, Kim Yu Shin believed that Baekje, Goguryeo, and Silla should not be separate countries, but united. He is regarded as the driving force in the unification of the Korean Peninsula by Silla under the reigns of King Muyeol of Silla & his son King Munmu of Silla, & is the most famous of all the generals in the unification wars of the Three Kingdoms to become a Unified Silla. Kim Yu Shin was born in 595, in Gyeyang, Jincheon County, Korea, the son of General Kim Su Hyeon & Princess Man Myeong, who was a daughter of King Jinheung of Silla Dynasty of Korea. Kim Seo Hyeon is the descendant from the Royal Household of Kim Gim Hae the Geum Gwan Gaya of Confederacy Gaya annexed by Silla (year 532). They are considered aristocrats in Silla & will take the caste as Jingol. At the age of fifteen, he became a Hwa Rang warrior, named Yong Hwa Hyang Do (Band of the Dragon Flower Tree. He was an accomplished swordsman and became a Gukseon (Hwa Rang State sylph) by the time he was eighteen years old.

Joo Bang confidently insist them to body search him to see whether he has stolen anything as they claim to quell their suspicion. Kim Yu Shin asked them to search but the youth finds nothing. Joo Bang said that “Gong Su Rae; Gong Su Geo” (As empty handed you approached birth you came & go as you demise the same). This humble monk had never possessed not a single asset. Mo Seo Yu (Nothing in possession). This is one of the Buddhists teaching, as Joo Bang chants away. Kim Yu Shin comes up empty handed asked his youth friends to leave. But Deok Man doesn’t want them & had the last say to ask them before leaving without the least they own an apology to Joo Bang. They had already stir up their suspicious then had made a drastic error of misidentification, then just leave the scene as though nothing has happened, isn’t that worth an apology for causing grievances to Joo Bang.

Kim Yu Shin said that his fellow Hwa Rang youth (Nang Do) don’t do lied & untruthful. Deok Man asked what does he meant by that. Kim Yu Shin insists that his Youth will never make no mistake on their suspicion. Then Deok Man tells the Hwa Rang youth that they still accused & have suspicion on Joo Bang as being the perpetrator. Joo Bang is just chanting away. Kim Yu Shil wants away but Deok man hold him back & the other youth gets upset for her being rude & aggressive. Kim Yi Shil holds them back. Kim Yu Shin said that they are indeed correct but there is no evidence (Jin Jwa) to proof otherwise, so we are leaving. Deok Man said that the Hwa Rang are a group specimen to be reckon that they can go around illustrious to stir up accusation people of stealing. Kim Yu Shin said in pride that they never accepted any mendacious conduct person into their ranks & these Hwa Rang spend many a days of training with him….would ever made a misjudgement of what has just happened. Then Deok man said it is that so, in his appraisal of his Hwa Rang youth then why they had come up empty handed even after body search. It seems like a great humiliation that has cause in front of their so called mighty Hwa Rang. Kim Yu Shin is shocked that Deok Man should belittle the Hwa Rang. Deok Man said that a person being so petty specimen might leading a throng of dastardly brigands but he shall never become an upright & righteous figure. The other youth can’t stand Deok Man’s insults as Joo Bang step on to go in between the parley. Joo Bang comes to reprimand Deok Man on Buddhist teachings. Deok Man said that it is unfair that the youth has made grievances on him by their false accusation. Joo bang recite Buddhist saying that “Life itself is a journey of suffering”. Joo Bang said that he had told Deok Man many times…..in suffering we are born,

& in penance we shall perish?! Deok Man still think it was unjustly treatment by the Hwa Rang youth. Joo Bang asked Deok man to leave with him like he is a holy monk that practice tolerance. Then Joo Bang turns to the Hwa Rang youth to chant at them “I hail to the Bodhisattva who listen (with mercy) the voice of the world”. Kim Yu Shin is left being ridiculed

This is really cute. The teenage actor (Lee Hyun Woo played Kim Yu Shin) & actress (Nam Ji Hyun played Deok Man) played younger version of husband (King Sejong) & wife (Queen Soheon) in the drama The Great King Sejong

Joo Bang drags Deok Man to the tavern as Deok man think that they should walk away & let them off the hook so easily. Joo Bang asked why Deok Man is behaving acting so rash. Joo Bang asked how he can introduce someone like Deok Man to Gukseon. Joo Bang tries to retrieve the ornament he drop in Deok Man’s pocket but Deok Man suddenly went down to kneel on her knees. Deok Man said that to forgive her for her rash behaviour but she couldn’t stand by bear the youth abuse Joo bang like that. Joo bang pretend to be dignified. Deok Man offer something in gold to say that this is all she had for offering & beg for his help. Joo Bang looks at the gold ornament with delight but then put up a dignified posture that she is not different that those Hwa Rang Youths, he asked Deok Man if she sees him as a person who would bestow his good before a hefty remuneration. Deok Man said she didn’t mean it that way. Deok Man want to keep it but snatches by Joo Bang & recite his dialogue as that she believe only material wealth that can move a man’s heart…what a lamentable excuse. Joo Bang tested the gold with his teeth as he goes chanting away. Deok man didn’t mean it but Joo Bang said that it is deplorable situation. Deok Man just merely want to show gratitude. Joo Bang said that Deok Man is a pitiful creature. Joo Bang said alright that no matter how lament her offering is, he will let it be use to endowed Buddha’s divine spirit. Then Joo Bang asked Ju Mo (female proprietor of a drinking tavern) for writing materials. Joo Bang writes on the bamboo stroll

Before paper Chinese wrote a letter on bamboo strip that is threaded together know as Zhu Kan

Deok Man tries to take peeks at the letter but hides it from her view then he sign his name. Then asked her to come closer to listen to his set of instruction to take a path right next to this place then lead her to a ferry. If she cross the river & enters a forest, she shall see a crossroad then follow the path with red marker on it then she will see a man name Seolji. If she passes this bamboo scroll to Seolji then he will know what to do with her. Deok Man gladly takes it from Joo Bang but don’t know what Joo Bang has up in his sleeves. Go Do bumps into Joo Bang as he flees & asked where the belt ornament was. Joo Bang slaps Go Do’s head that he escape on his own & leaving him expose to the Hwa Rang youth. Go Dong said that Joo Bang always teach him not to look anyone in the face and run for his life. Joo Bang said there is always had a time and place to use that where it applies to the situation. Go Dong asked where the ornament was. Joo Bang said that the ornament is still with Deok Man & hides when he spots Deok Man in the crowd & Deok Man passes. Joo Bang said he has something better that the ornament instead & showed Deok Man gold ornament she offered

Se Jong asked for troop to be despatched out & Hwa Rang to strike & eliminate Moon Noh, are they

planning to turn all the Hwa Rang against them by doing so. Seol Won Rang said that Moon Noh is reported t be in Manno County. Ha Jong asked whether Manno County is that region ravaged by brigands. Seol Won Rang affirms it & adds that region is under the governance of Kim Seo Hyeon. Ha Jong asked if he was that Gaya man Kim Seo Hyeon who elopes with Princess Man Myeong

Gaya is small confederation between Silla & Baekje, annexes by Silla in 562. It is consider aristocrat in Silla society. Kim Seo Hyeon is from the Gaya Royal household of Gaya’s Kim Gimhae

Seol Won Rang said that he is also the same Kim Su Hyeon that King Jinpyeong wants to summon to Seorabeol. Mi Saeng get the idea that they are using this opportunity to rid themselves of those Sang San’s brigands meanwhile at the same time strikes Moon Noh a fatal blow, & also punishing Kim Su Hyeon for not dealing with those vandals. Se Jong asked whether it is of that idea. Seol Won Rang affirms it. Se Jong asked whether this idea comes from Mi Shil or it is his. Seol Won & Mi Shil schemed this plan as they suspect that King Jinpyeong, Eul Jae, Kim Yong Chu, Kim Seo Hyeon & Moon Noh are all conspiring together. Mi Saeng said it is only a possibility without a doubt. Ha Jong praise his mother that she never failed to amaze him with her scheme

Sang San is ancient name of Jin Cheon County

Ha Jong asked his father permission that he shall personally deal with Moon Noh & Kim Su Hyeon, & this will gain him the merits (Cheo Gong) that he is so lacking & deserved. Seol Won Rang looks at Ha Jong’s determination with some dissatisfaction. Se Jong said that if they mobilise soldiers to that region that is under the governance of Kim Su Hyeon, they need King Jinpyeong’s consent. Seol Won Rang said that Mi Shil will get the consent require. Mi Saeng said that looking at King Jinpyeong’s current state it is likely. King Jinpyeong only spends his time & drinking games & banquet. They are playing Ju Ryeong Gu a 14 sided dice with message of forfeit on it

Ju Ryeong Gu is a Silla dice with 14 sides used for drinking games

King Jinpyeong cast the dice of “Eum Jin Dae So”

It means “Empty the cup, abandon yourself indulge in hearty laughter”

King Jinpyeong asked everybody come be filled as he drinks it all & laughing hearty but he is filled with sorrow behind his laugh Then looking at the people in the banquet & asked the people there to follow accordingly to hear a hearty guffaw from all of them. Eul Jae looks at the suffering King Jinpyeong. Mo Shil comes to the banquet & announces her presence. King Jinpyeong one look at her takes away his smile. Mi Shil asked that King Jinpyeong is drinking in merry mood. Mi Shil approaches King Jinpyeong & he asked what bring her here this time. Mi Shil tells about the brigands in Sang San at Manno County. Mi Shil asked for his consent to send soldiers & Hwa Rang…to immediately control the disturbance. King Jinpyeong not the slightest interest asks Mi Shil to do whatever she please. Eul Jae voices out that Kim Su Hyeon is the governor of that region, he will appease that situation accordingly, there is no reason that they should send additional soldiers there from Seorabeol. Mi Shil said that they may not be aware but Kim Seo Hyeon’s daily memoirs is harbouring & breeding the brigands with favours but reports from Hwa Rang’s own recce team that it is a totally different picture that reported. King Jinpyeong is upset & shouts at Mi Shil over Mi Shil’s explanation as he already told her…to do as she please & why she is here still here debauching his amusement. Mi Shil looks at Eul Jae. Mi Shil is counsel with the Minister over King Jinpyeong’s consent. Eul Jae said those so called brigands are actually refugees & improvised that require to send the Central army for that. Ha Jong said that so is an upheaval by refugees is to be called something else. Eul Jae looks at Ha Jong. Se Jong said that not to mention the fact that close proximity of the territory borders Baekje and Goguryeo, unless they stabilize their border territories, how could we ever peacefully deliberate on state affairs. Mi Saeng said that the King has given his consent there should not make this fruitless. Seol Won Rang is the Pyeong Bu Ryeong (Commissioner of Military Affairs). Mi Saeng asked who will lead in this expedition despatch. Se Jong asked that Ha Jong should resume command for this expedition. Se Jong said that although he is a Dae Deung (Member of the Council of Nobles), he needs to have merit to his name more than basking in his clan’s reflected glory, a loyal subject must prove his fealty through personal merits. Ha Jong said that he shall stake his life for this accomplishment. Mi Shil agrees

Seol Won Rang helps to clean & sponging Mi Shil’s legs & he tells her that Ha Jong will not do as he is of savage disposition, lacks show of insight & judgement that may hampered the plans. Yes in another word Ha Jong is a moron. Seol Won Rang said that beside that to entrusting him the task of dealing with Moon Noh. Mi Shil agrees that Ha Jong is deem inadmissible but will ask him to deal with the brigands. Seol Won Rang asked about in regards to Moon Noh, Mi Shil asked it should go to Bo Jong. Seo Won Rang thinks that Bo Jong is still way too young…Mi Shil reminds that during that age Seol Won Rang was already helping in her cause. Mi Shil tells that Bo Jong has the characteristics of remarkable temperament. Seol Won Rang is hesitant Mi Shil said that this assignment will able to qualify him entrance into the country’s governing politics. Mi Shil asked whether he approves it or not. He approves & yet he doesn’t. Mi Shil said that he approves it as it will have Bo Jong’s talent will be acknowledged & recognition but vexed the concern that he that he might only tread in the shadows as the same situation & fate as he is now as. Seol Won Rang said that he doesn’t want his lowly ancestry status…be s stumbling block to Bo Jong’s future…. Mi Shil also told that it is indeed that her own lowly ancestry never allowed her to made Queen. Mi Shil tells him that Bo Jong is not just alone is being his son but also her blood as well. Mi Shil said that whenever she gazes at Bo Jong she feels like looking into her own reflection

Ha Jong is surprise that he is not taking care of Moon Noh from his father. Se Jong tells that Mi Shil will never entrust then with something as risking as this to us. This meagre task is what Seol Won Rang’s deserves & expertise. Ha Jong said that it was important that to have them gain merit. Se Jong said that from Mi Shil’s perspective that what Mi Shil wants from them is their blood line. What comes after Seonggol is Jingol & that is them. Se Jong said that anything that has potentially risk of threat to the blood line will not come to them. If they wait then eventually Mi Shil will eventually able to bestow the throne to their family. Se Jung asked his son the merits will he had been assign, make sure he accomplished it

Bo Jong gets the news from his father. He is surprise that they have to assassinate Gukseon Moon Noh. If this is found out that all Hwa Rang will be against them. Seol Won Rang said he must move in stealth without anyone’s knowledge. Bo Jong now think that they have been serve unfairly & always bearing the brunt of this, & are they recognise for their accomplishment, since it is always the importance is given to Se Jong & his son Ha Jong to have credit & merit. Seol Won Rang puts his trust on Mi Shil, even when repeated efforts only reaps failure after another, there will been soon victory will prevailed on the horizon. So they will have to wait for that day to come. Seol Won Rang asked get use to a life of failures, then all disappointing whims shall disappear. Seol Won Rang asked to bring men that he fully trusts & loyal that will take the task. Bo Jong is really disappointed. Seol Won Rang tells his son that he is really sorry that he should had been his father

Mi Saeng goes to his sister on who favour she is laying on. Se Jong or Seol Won Rang or it is ha Jong or Bo Jong. Mi Saeng said that Se Jong would be a definite choice but the lacking in Ha Jong. Then Seol Won Rang can’t have the qualification either. Mi Shil asked how Mi Saeng 86th son is doing; she hears he is quite remarkable. Mi Saeng having a hard time keeping tracks of his children’s name. Mi Shil asked whether her brother knows all his children name. Mi Saeng laughs as they about 100 of them 9I assume including daughters). Mi Shil tells that their mother left this world in worries that Mi Saeng still behave as such. Mi Saeng said that he is just a wretched fool. This is nice that both siblings do have heart strings. Mi Saeng asked who will be her choice. Mi Shil will let divine providence on their own fate to determine her choice

Mi Saeng said that former King, King Jinheung might have bestowed his legacy upon his heir, but all it took to overturn his wishes was a varlet like her & she is now in power. Mi Shil will wait & see. Mi Shil said that there will be soon be a person who is taking the fateful path which leads to the throne, desire and ambition spurting from every corner, step by step, with the deadly calm of a ferocious predator, & at the crucial moment, appearing before my very eyes.

Cheon Myeong arrives at Manno Fortress & asked the guards that are this where Moon Noh is. Cheon Myeong takes a ferry. Cheon Myeong guards asked what the situation in the area is like The guards reports the situation is hostile that not only it is filled with refugees because of the drought but also brigands and other remnant rebels that are creating disorder. The Cheon Myeong guard asked to secure their escape route & will wait for them on the opposite bank. As they set off, Deok Man comes running to stop the ferry. The guard stop Deok man from getting on the ferry as Deok man asked them to let him pass to go together & barge her way through. She even asked Cheon Myeong to move aside to give her space to sit. The guards demands she get off the boat at once, but Deok Man trying to persuade them to let her sailed with them but the guard demands she get off. Deok Man said she will pay for the fare. The guard takes Deok Man off & throw her off the boat into the water. For the person brought out in the desert, she sure can swim. Deok Man asked them why she was throw off as she said she will pay her fare for the voyage. The guard asked her to get lost but she begs for a ride down across the river. The guard takes her hands off from her grip of the boat. Deok man swam back then telling the guards that she is not leaving. Cheon Myeong is amaze how stubborn Deok Man is

Then after a string of arrows hit the boat & shouts of brigands, can’t call them pirates. Guards are strike down by arrow from the ridge as Cheon Myeong is shock at the attack. Chaos in the guards as they tried to protect Cheon Myeong. Deok Man asked & beg Cheon Myeong to help her up aboard the boat to save her. The guards managed to release the boat. Deok Man makes a slip as Cheon Myeong with all her strength trying to pull Deok Man up onto the boat, when Deok Man spots an arrow about to leave the bow heading towards their direction. Then Deok Man shouts, as she pulls Cheon Myeong into the water to save her instead. The guards called out to Cheon Myeong & then jumps to rescue the 2 girls. Deok man straddle to the banks. As the guard drags an exhausted Cheon Myeong out of the water. Then rest of the guard to the aide & apologise for their lateness in rescue & asked Cheon Myeong if she is alright. Cheon Myeong guards about the brigands. The other guards have managed to evade their assaults but they have to escape from this place at once for fear of another attack, but the boat is already lost

Cheon Myeong guard went to Deok Man to asked who is Deok Man that her troubles have cause them the lost of their boat & delay their journey then nearly cause Cheon Myeong to drown. Deok Man said that she save Cheon Myeong from nearly being shot at by the arrow. Deok man asked whether Cheon Myeong witness it. The guards asked Deok man to be tied up. Then while struggling to be tied up, the 2nd attack by the brigand comes, then Deok Man escape but followed Cheon Myeong as the other guards fence the attackers as Cheon Myeong & the guard escapes. Then some of the brigand gives chase to Deok Man. Deok Man managed to free her ropes & run after Cheon Myeong. While running Cheon Myeong slips but then the guard was shot by an arrow & drop death as Cheon Myeong runs for her life then tumbles & Deok Man run pass her as both sister look at each other but hearing the shouts of the brigands left Cheon Myeong on the ground as Deok Man runs at the sight of the advancing brigands. Cheon Myeong managed to get up & run following Deok. After a while Deok man slip then finds the path with the red marker like what Joo Bang had said. Deok man follow the market as Cheon Myeong in pursuit. The brigands stop short at the markers. Deok Man & Cheon Myeong are being watched

Ha Jong goes for the expedition & tell his soldiers in a great orator speech that army are at this very moment…threatening their frontier territory, causing destitute at the border. For the sake of our Silla (to the Silla they address their nation as heavenly kingdom), they must be deal with the disturbances that has occurred. The soldiers obey his orders. Meanwhile Bo Jong handles the stealth mission & asking his men who will follow to the death. Bo Jong men swore loyalty to him. Bo Jong tells his men that their mission is an assassination attempt in Yeo Rae temple. The monks in the temple are skillful & armed. There is also a man who lodges at the small hermitage near the main temple. The man in question possesses excellent martial arts skills that surpass by no one. They must move in swiftly & act before he response. They also must act in stealth & let no one know of their movement. Bo Jung’s men asked who the person, Bo Jung answer Moon Noh. Bo Jung said that is leading reprobates from Sang San in an upheaval. Although Moon Noh is legendary & have the respect from Hwa Rang but any enemy of the nation is theirs to contend with. They are shocked that the main they seek is Moon Noh. Bo Jong said they must executed this paramount mission invested on them

Kim Yong Chu is shocked that the order of deployment of soldiers was issue while he was away. Im Jong tells that Hwa Rang know of the whereabout of Moon Noh in Manno County had disappeared. Kim Yong Chu asked what Im Jong is implying. Im Jong said that the person was assign for the task had not been seen since for the past 6 days. Kim Yong Chu fearing danger asked Im Jong to move quickly as Princess Cheon Myeong is heading at that direction as they speak. Kim Yong Chu instruct Im Jong to being her back to safety

Meanwhile Deok Man is follow by Cheon Myeong. Deok Man asked why is Cheon Myeong following her. Cheon Myeong instructs her to be her protector. (Cheon Myeong sound like Rebecca asking the Ivanhoe to be her champion to honour her cause but in the end the Black Knight came to her aide) Deok Man said that it was of just that she was suppose to be punished for her wrong doing. Cheon Myeong takes out her jade ring & asked if this reimbursement is sufficiently fair. Cheon Myeong asked Deok Man the first thing to do is to find out where they are. Cheon Myeong must head for Yeo Rae Sa (“Sa” is temple). Deok Man takes the ring as payment & tells her that once they reach Deok Man intended destination, she will asked around for some information on the directions. Deok Man walks away & Cheon Myeong asked does she know the designation of being a protector. Rule Number one is never leave away from her side. Deok Man looks at her then walks & finds that Cheon Myeong isn’t moving so Deok Man had to clear the path for her from shrubs. Deok Man walks but Cheon Myeong trip over a fallen branch & Deok Man goes to catch her fall but ended with body contact. Cheon Myeong reprimanded Deok Man as she dare lay her hands on a woman’s body. Deok man hears a hiss then casually said there is a snake. Cheon Myeong lifts her skirt up & finds the snake sliding at her foot as she screams. Cheon Myeong demands that the snake be remove from her foot. Deok Man goes & about to take the snake away then hesitates. Deok Man then tells her that she had been told that she can’t lay hands on a woman’s body & walks off. Cheon Myeong commands Deok Man to stop at her tracks. Then Deok Man returns her jade ring & tells her that she has resigns from being her protector. Cheon Myeong asked that the snake be remove, it is a decree Deok Man query about Cheon Myeong’s identity that she isn’t really a Buddhist nun & asked beside that, is there anything else that she can do. Deok Man wonder if she can run or walk or even walks when the path doesn’t have any restraint or restricting object, Deok man asked Cheon Myeong is there anything else she can do. Deok Man asked whether she should show her courtesy & respect, does the whole world kneel before her. Deok Man said that she doesn’t have any ability & devoid of any known skills, Cheon Myeong you should at least bring herself to be of favour to asked her way out of problems.

Deok man pushes Cheon Myeong to ask her kindly for a favour to have Deok Man remove the snakes for her. Cheon Myeong asked politely then Deok man went to remove the snake & tell her that the snake is not even poisonous. Deok Man said that they should part way. They had different paths to go, different personality…Cheon Myeong slap Deok man but Deok Man want to punch her but restraints herself as Cheon Myeong was in tears. Deok Man 7 Cheon Myeong goes on opposite directions then Deok Man realise that there is a trap set Deok man went for Cheon Myeong & got trap as well

The men took Deok Man & Cheon Myeong to see Seolji. The men said they are the wretches that they had mentioned. Deok Man hears that the person’s name is Seolji. Deok Man thanked heavens that she has found Seolji as instructed by Joo Bang. Deok man sends her greeting to a surprise Seolji. Deok Man introduce that she is from faraway land named Taklamakan. Deok Man takes out the bamboo scroll to have Seolji read it

Seolji – leader of the Gaya refugees & migrants

Seolji takes the scroll & reads it then looks at Deok Man throw the bamboo scroll back to her & asked her to read it herself. Seolji asked her to read it aloud. The letter reads “”My apologies for our past encounters I shall bestow this boy upon you as a sign of my repentance, so may you stop trailing me. Koh Sa Master Juk bang.

Koh Sa or Ju Shi is a lay man who Buddhist practitioner. Laity members of a religious community that do not have the priestly or cleric responsibilities of ordained clergy

The villagers on hearing of Joo Bang’s name are all upset. Joo Bang had swindled & speaks against us the last time. He had claimed that he could bring rain to us & asked for reimbursement of chicken & drinks. Villagers complaint not only he didn’t gave them rain but cheated them all whatever their worldly possession that they had & ran away. Joo bang was the swindler who in the midst of war, drought & famine has the daring courage to steal from destitute like them. Deok Man can say the Joo Bang send her here to them. The upset villager pours their anger on Deok Man. The villagers suggest that they are to be sold. Cheon Myeong is also drag into it. Deok Man asked them to hold their horses & said that that is not so. The Villager suggested to Seolji to sell them to Sui merchants (Chinese) as slaves. The villager has already sold off his children for that; they certainly can able to do it with other stranger’s off spring. Seolji asked them to lock up. Deok man asked what about Moon Noh. In the lock up, Deok Man screaming & bound to had the door opened to release them, that she too got trick& is innocent. The villagers asked her to shut up as she making so many rackets in the night. Deok Man called out to the villager & said she did nothing wrong to them, she was also trick to coming here. The villager know & understand but they have lost their cultivate land to war, even after hostilities were stops the rain didn’t come, but in order to survive they had to resort to selling their children to maintain their survival so they asked Deok Man to resent the heaven rather than them. The heavens had not send them a drop of rain

Deok Man asked why don’t they combined their forces & look & apprehend for Joo Bang. The villager asked of what use in apprehending Jo Bang as though the rain will come. The villager asked Deok man to resign to fate & not think that she will ever escape from here. The villager left as Deok man bangs the door for attention. Cheon Myeong asked Deok man to stop the racket. Cheon Myeong asked that Deok man doesn’t know the predicament that they are in that acting in racket will solve anything. Deok Man asked whether they should keep quiet & wait for things to happened to them. Cheon Myeong said that Deok Man had carried the war into enemy’s camp & look who faults that what has happened to them. Deok Man asked whoever forces Cheon Myeong to follow her. Cheon Myeong said that Deok Man acts as she is all knowledge of worldly matter but by the look it had been all against her. Deok Man asked to give this up. Deok Man went back to banging the door

Seolji looks through Deok Man’s knapsack only to find books & nothing of value. Deok man had taken the Jeong Gwang Ryeol

Jeong Gwang Ryeol in Chinese Zheng Guang Li is the calendric system of Northern Wei (386-534); it is based on the Gua Qi theory system which later Tang Dynasty adopted in theirs

We have to bear in mind that although Deok Man eventually Queen Seon Deok become Sovereign, the fact that the 8th star of split from Mizar of the Big Dipper as prophesy is the effort combination of both sister. So the sister has to be in combination to join force to contend with Mi Shil’s power. As Cheon Myeong who is the elder twin follow somewhat of her husband’s status demotion to Jingol, it is only left with Deok Man as the sole Seonggol to ascend the throne. So that how the story goes. It is eventually when Cheon Myeong’s son Kim Chun Chu abolished the bone rank system that he rightful ascend the throne as King Muyeol.

Why later Queen Seon Deok accept to be Sovereign is due the opening influence of the Buddhist teaching of Bodhisattva. That gender is not obstinate. This is especially for the following of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva (literally means “Lord who looks down”,) is a bodhisattva who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas. He is one of the more widely revered bodhisattvas in mainstream Mahayana Buddhism. In China and its sphere of cultural influence, Avalokiteśvara is often depicted in a female form known as Guan Yin. The name Avalokiteśvara is made of the following parts: the verbal prefix ava, which means “down”; lokita, a past participle of the verb lok (“to notice, behold, observe”), here used in an active sense (an occasional irregularity of Sanskrit grammar); and finally īśvara, “lord”, “ruler”, “sovereign” or “master”. In accordance with the rules of sound combination, a+iśvara becomes eśvara. Combined, the parts mean “lord who gazes down (at the world)”. The word loka (“world”) is absent from the name, but the phrase is implied. It gain popularity in Tang Dynasty leading to wishes it is perceived that women can be sovereign as like Avalokiteśvara first brought back by the famous monk Xuanzang who went to the west to seek Buddhist text in the reign of Emperor Taizong. Xuanzang’s famous journey to India was inspired in the book Journey to the west. When Xuanzang return from India, he did careful translation of the text to Chinese Xuanzang also have a disciple name Woocheuk a Korean Monk who eventually translate some part of the famous Heart Sutra. This influences & following through his own disciples eventually came to the shore of Silla

Here is a MV of the Heart Sutra. The Sanskrit version

We hope to see more on how the twin sisters united kick butt & handle Mi Shil & become her contender. The combined efforts always reap result as seen in this episode. Why do Cheon Myeong always have to drag a dangling Deok Man up, all the time. Deok Man entering Hwa Rang as a man? Oh another Shin Yun Bok?
